Neurodiversity
Our wounds are often the openings into the best and most beautiful part of us.

Neurodivergent? Great. Let's talk.

Neurodiversity-informed therapy is different.
It starts from the belief that neurodivergence is not something to fix—it’s a natural and valuable part of human diversity. A neurodiversity-affirming approach recognises that the challenges you face are often shaped more by environments that aren’t built with your needs in mind than by anything “wrong” with you.
You are the expert on your own experience. Therapy should reflect that. Humanistic therapy is grounded in the belief that every person has the capacity for growth, healing, and self-understanding when they’re offered the right conditions—acceptance, empathy, and a non-judgemental relationship. For neurodivergent people, who are often pathologised or pressured to “fit in,” this kind of therapy can be particularly healing.
Working with a neurodiversity-informed therapist means:
- Your brain is not a problem to solve – Therapy won’t focus on making you appear “more typical,” but on supporting you to live in ways that feel sustainable and authentic.
- Sensory needs, communication styles, and executive functioning differences are respected – Whether you prefer written communication, need more structure, or want to stim in session, that’s welcome here.
- No pressure to mask – This is a space where you don’t have to hide parts of yourself to be accepted or understood.
- Support is individualised – Therapy is adapted to suit your rhythms, not the other way around.

You deserve support that celebrates your uniqueness, not erases it.
Neurodivergent people deserve therapy that honours their lived experience, explores identity without shame, and supports growth without erasing difference. If you’re looking for a space where you can be truly understood and supported as your whole self, you’re in the right place

Here’s how humanistic therapy supports neurodivergent clients:
- Affirms autonomy and self-direction: Rather than imposing rigid goals or trying to “correct” behaviours, the therapist follows your lead—supporting your understanding of what feels meaningful, helpful, and right for you.
- Focuses on the whole person: You’re not reduced to a diagnosis or a set of traits. Your feelings, values, relationships, identity, and inner world are all welcome and important.
- Non-pathologising: A humanistic therapist sees neurodivergence as part of your unique way of being—not something broken to be fixed, but something to understand and integrate.
- Encourages authenticity over masking: Humanistic therapy creates a space where you can show up as you are, without needing to mask or perform. That can be incredibly freeing if you’ve spent much of your life trying to “pass” or conform.
- Values relationship and trust: The therapy relationship is built on mutual respect and real human connection—not clinical distance. For many neurodivergent clients, that warmth and openness helps build the safety needed to do meaningful inner work.
